Position Overview:
We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead the technical team developing our open-world, multiplayer educational game. We’ve successfully built a prototype and run a pilot program in schools. Your role will be to help us evolve our game, tools, and pipelines to support the growing list of students who will play our game. You will continue growing your expertise in writing high-quality code as the game’s technical owner as well as grow your leadership skills in planning as well as hiring and developing talent. We will craft the role around the right person, whether you’ve been programming for six years or twenty. While Stemuli is based in Dallas, this is a remote role accepting applicants across the US.
Responsibilities:
- Write clear, optimized, and modular gameplay code
- Lead a small technical team of internal and external developers
- Perform code reviews and mentor engineering talent within the company
- Architect game features and systems with best practices in mind
- Collaborate with business, design, art, and curriculum developers
- Represent the dev team and technology in leadership conversations
- Help grow the engineering team including interviewing and hiring engineers
What We're Searching For:
- 6+ years of professional game programming experience
- Experience programming networked multiplayer games
- Experience working in a modern game engine (e.g. Unreal, Unity, Proprietary)
- Experience working in a large, established code base
- Deep knowledge of C++ or C# programming and best practices
- A passion for gaming and its potential to transform workforce training
We Prefer If You Have:
- Experience working on online multiplayer games
- Experience working in Unity
- Background in working for a venture-backed startup, with a deep understanding of the fast-paced, dynamic environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
